3D Printer Training
The 3D space in the Fablab has two Makerbot Replicator + machines and one Stratasys UPrint SE. Review the training map and materials to learn how to prepare files and transfer to the 3D print software. Contact the lab manager to learn about getting materials and setting up time to print.

Makerbot Replicator+ Training Tutorial
Preparing to 3D Print
- Check the geometry of the file to avoid print fails:
- Consider underhanging area and the structural support that will be necessary to print them.
- Make sure the object is sitting flat on the xy world plane
- Make sure the 3D model is a solid object. When the faces are not fully closed, they produce gaps or holes in the model and those holes and gaps will keep the model from printing correctly.
- Check that polygonal normals are aligned properly
- Consider resolution: low/ standard / high
- Consider infill density, height, and pattern (10%, 30%, 50%)
Print Bed Parameters
- Maximum print size for MakerBot Replicator is 9.9″ L x 7.8″ W x 5.9″ H.
- File Format: .STL or .OBJ
- Minimum thickness for members: 2mm
