6. Should I take Math104 or Math101/102?

Math101 and Math102 are two semesters of the same material offered in one semester of Math104. So for those folks who might benefit from a slower pace of the material contained in the one semester: Math104, we offer two semesters: Math101 and Math102

How did you do on the Algebra Assessment Test we gave on the first day?

  1. If you knew how to do most or all of the questions correctly, you should take Math104.
  2. If you knew how to do a lot of the questions correctly and recognized most of them but were a little rusty on some of the concepts (but you know you could do them with a little review), you probably are good to take Math104. But should do some review of the concepts you didn’t remember.
  3. If you did not know how to do or did not recognize a lot of them, you should seriously consider taking Math101/102. You might want to consider Math101/102 even if you recognize a lot of the questions but just know you will struggle with the rest of the concepts we plan to cover in Math104. Math104 is fairly fast paced for students who may struggle a bit with math.

You should also look also at the Syllabus and Course Objectives pages on this website and you can see all the concepts we will be covering in Math104 and Math101/102. Try to think about whether you will be comfortable learning the concepts listed there in one or two semesters.
