Textbook and Homework

Algebra and Trigonometry by Robert Blitzer, 7th edition. Pearson. 2022.

Homework assignments will be assigned and completed through MyMathLab (MML). MML is an online homework and e-book of your textbook with links to multimedia resources, such as video clips of lessons and step-by-step solutions of problems.  There is also a personalized study plan automatically generated from your previous work that links you to unlimited tutorial exercises for further study, so you can practice until you have mastered the skills.

The first thing you should do is register for your MyMathLab account.

  • Every math104 student gets free temporary access to MML for the add/drop period.
  • To register for MML, you will need an MML course ID number found on your course Canvas page.
  • Please use your UMass username and your UMass email address when registering.

You eventually must purchase an access code. All your work under the free temporary access will be saved and transferred to your permanent account.

Instructions to purchase your MyMathLab access code can be found on our syllabus and course Canvas page

Should you want a physical copy of the textbook just for your personal use, you can do that within your MML account under “Purchase Options”.

We also keep copies of the physical textbook at the Reserve Desk in the W. E. B. Dubois University Library. To use the physical copy of the textbook in the library, go to the Reserve Desk (one floor below the entry floor) and ask for the book for our course number – Math 104.  You can go to https://www.library.umass.edu/ and search for the course number to check the availability of the book at any time. You may borrow the book for up to three hours of in-house access.

Each homework assignment has its own due date in MML which you are responsible for knowing.  We strongly recommend attempting homework early and not waiting until the night it’s due.

If you encounter any technical problems with MML, call the Pearson Technical Support at: 1-833-585-1828 or use their online chat feature.
