My internship was at the MA State House in Boston.
How did you get to your internship every day?
I took the commuter rail from my hometown in Mansfield, MA to South Station! It was about 45 minutes.
What did you do as an intern at this organization?
Gathered background for events, wrote remarks, published tweets for the governor, attended press events, videography, photography, daily press clips.
What did you enjoy most about your internship?
Having access to the governor and his staff in a unique way.
What did you find challenging about your internship?
Commuting, financing and expenses, long days.
What skills did you develop through this internship?
Networking, social media, public relations, advertising, writing.
What advice would you offer to someone who is considering this internship?
It’s a perfect opportunity for someone interested in political communications. It was one of my favorite internships, but you definitely have to acquire funding to make it work for commuting and general expenses.
